Heartnut Festival 2017

The Heartnut Festival is an annual heritage celebration of the history of Indiana and a little known nut tree called the Heartnut tree. Although it is native to Japan, the Heartnut is considered to be a variant of a walnut grown in Japan that grows well in the fertile soils of Indiana. It receives its name from the Valentine heart-shaped nuts it produces. The flavor is compared to be mildly walnut in character with no bitterness.

2017 marks the 32nd year for the Heartnut Festival that brings a historical pre-1840 living encampment with re-enactors camping in the lifestyle of the time. The Heartnut Festival celebrates the culture of life in early Indiana with home and hand craft vendors, musicians, kids activities, delicious food, miniature train and pony rides, and more at the Johnson County Park in Nineveh, Indiana. The festival is free and offers a fun filled day for a family friendly outing!

MARC Monthly Meetings

Meetings are at 8 am on the 3rd Saturday

(Except for the September picnic lunch.)

Club meetings are held at the Johnson County REMC building, 750 International Dr. in Franklin at 8:00 AM. If the visitor parking lot on the south side of the building is full, we have been told to use the employee parking lot on the east side.

Do not park on the shoulder of International Drive or on any grassy areas or at nearby buisnesses. 

Annual dues are $25. Use the PayPal button below to pay your annual dues.  You will need to type in the amount of $25.00. This link is the official link for paying dues online. You may also send a check to the PO Box listed above, or pay at any Club meeting.

We offer VE Testing after every meeting except after the September and December meetings.

New Johnson County Warning Storm Siren Policy and County maps of siren locations. 

MARC is a General Interest Amateur Radio Club located in Franklin Indiana, our repeaters are on 146.835 MHz with a 151.4 PL, and 443.525 MHz also with a 151.4 PL tone, and are located in Greenwood, Indiana, at Olive Branch Road and S.R. 135. Our repeater is the Official SKYWARN Repeater for Johnson County, Indiana.  

Weekly VHF Net...  The Mid-State Amateur Radio Club's Net meets on Sunday nights at 7:00 pm.  This is an open net and all licensed amateurs are invited and encouraged to participate.  (See above for frequency info).

MARC Membership...  Membership in the MidState Amateur Radio Club is open to anyone with an interest in Amateur Radio.  Membership dues are $25.00 dollars per year and are due annually in January.  You do not have to be a licensed amateur to be a member of M.A.R.C.  If you would like to join our club or renew your membership, please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. The Amateur Radio Service (Ham Radio) is a federally licensed and administered service.  Anyone, regardless of age, can get a license. After successfully passing an exam, you will be given a call sign. Once licensed, ham radio operators use their radio stations to make contacts around the world.

Ham radio is one of the most exciting, friendly, useful, educational and high-tech hobbies around.  Hams include a diverse group of people around the world -- engineers, scientists, doctors, astronauts, students, teachers, boaters, pilots, retirees and famous celebrities. You never know who you're going to talk to on-the-air next.
